1. What is the purpose of locking wheel nuts/bolts?
With car security becoming more advanced, stealing cars is a lot harder to do now, but stealing from a car is not and is one of the fastest growing crimes in the UK.
Replacing a set of wheel even original ones when you add the cost of tyres runs into the £100's each wheel, so by added a set of wheel locks will make it rather tricky for someone to steal your alloy wheels, as without the key they would have to make a lot of noise to remove the the wheels.
We have customers who have 2 or more sets fitted to be extra safe!
2. How do I work out if I need open or closed wheel nuts?
A very common question and easy to work out. If you can see the wheel nuts of your alloy wheels like the picture below you need closed nuts
If not and you have a big centre cap that cover the nuts, like the picture below you need open nuts. Of course if you are in any doubt please contact us.
3. Will these go rusty like my original nuts / bolts?
Original wheel nuts and bolts are made at a price, the finish of them was never a consideration. All the nuts and bolts we supply are zinc plated, this give the appearence of chrome, very shiny, but also makes them resistant to corrosion, a lot longer than your original ones.
That said wheel nuts and bolts are in the worst possible place, close to road, they get covered in brake dust, so eventually all wheel nuts will start to corrode, but we are talking years and a lot longer than oe fitments.
4. I have lost my locking wheel nut key can you supply a replacement?
If you have original wheel locks on your car as fitted by the manufacture you will need to go back to your main dealer, as they will be the only ones who can supply.
If you have a set of locks like the ones we sell, known as puzzle locks then let us know the key code stamped on the top of the removal key and we should be able to help.
5. Will these fit my original alloy wheels?
The nuts and bolts we can supply will fit directly to your original alloy wheel, most of the time. Certain car manufactures use different seating thread length, but we can advise you on this, if in doubt get in contact.
6. How do tell if my alloy wheels use tuner / slim nuts or bolts?
Very simple this one, if you have a new set of alloy wheels and your original wheel bolts or nuts are too big or fat to fit in the holes of the alloy wheels you need tuner / slim fastenings, or if you find that you can't fit your wheel brace into the holes in the alloy wheel, again as with anything if in doubt just get in contact.
7. How do work out what size spigot rings my alloy wheels use?
Most of the time a brand of alloy wheel will use the same od on all designs eg Rimstock alloy wheels all use 73.1, so let use know what alloy wheels you have and should know what you need. However with so many alloy wheels coming from the far east, a standard size is trickier to know, so you will need to measure the centre bore of your alloy wheels.
The picture below shows what to measure, it is the internal measurement that is the important bit not the tapered lip.
8.How long does delivery take?
Everything ships either the same day or the next working day, most customers expirence delivery within 2 days, but from time to time things do get delayed that are out of our control
